My husband and I were very fortunate to be able to visit the city of Rome last week for a few days. We were celebrating our 15th Wedding Anniversary and a big birthday I have coming up! So it was real treat to just do some sightseeing, do lots of eating of delicious Italian food and relaxing with some coffees whilst watching the world go by! Oh and did I mention it lovely and warm and sunny? What a privilege to visit such an amazing city steeped in such rich history. I loved it.
Here are a few of my favourite images.
The Pantheon in dazzling sunshine and plenty of tourists.
Rome in the evening. Full of ambience, great restaurants and lots of waiters shouting “Preggo, preggo!” Still not quite sure what it means!
The Spanish Steps…..never a quiet moment!
The Vatican. Outside and in.
Spot the tourists.
A few of the old and beautiful things you will see around Rome.
The Italian architecture is beautiful. I love this vista of Rome from the Villa Borghese. It just shows the layers and layers of history that have been built up over the centuries.
Palatine Hill. The Ancient part of Rome. Amazing to stand in the very place where Roman emperors paraded and ruled.
The Colosseum in all its glory. I imagined myself as one of those early Christians who would have fought for their lives in this place. Truly humbling and terrifying.
Loved the colours. So warm and Mediterranean.
I hope you enjoyed this post a little bit different from my usual work! I certainly enjoyed taking my camera somewhere new. Now where to next? Anyone want some family portraits in Athens? Paris? Barcelona? 😉
