KIND WORDS
Thoroughly clear and understandable guide to your DSLR – very impressed with the effort put into this short course. It takes great teaching ability to pass on the underpinnings of photography in a few short hours and to combine this with hands-on practical experience. Thoroughly recommend it as a small investment added to the expense of your camera.
Thanks Judy for a brilliant workshop! If you’re looking for photography lessons with a gifted professional photographer with the warmest and most welcoming personality – book with Judy Laing. Fun, educational and great practical work. I think I now understand the exposure triangle!
Got questions?
Who is the workshop for?
The workshop is suitable for beginners. Do not worry if you have no experience whatsoever. It is also suitable for you if you have a little understanding of aperture, shutter speed or ISO but are not yet sure how to put it all together. The workshop will fill in the gaps for you and have you confident in manual mode in no time!
How much does it cost?
The cost for the day is £125 and includes tea, coffee, homebaking and a delicious homemade lunch. You will also be provided with handout materials to take home with you. I only have around 6 workshop attendees at the one time so I can provide you with lots of time, attention and answer any questions you might have. After the workshop there is an optional Facebook group you can join for ongoing support and weekly challenges.
What do I need to bring?

Alternatively I can send you a Gift Certificate that is valid for 12 months for them to choose a date of their preference.
What will I learn?
The day is a mixture of classroom learning and a practical outdoor session. WE will cover topics such as exposure, aperture, shutter speed and ISO in a clear step by step format. I will take you from shooting in AUTO mode to being able to control the camera in full manual mode. We will also discuss composition and how to use natural light to its best advantage.
What dates are available?
Friday 15th January 2021 – Cancelled
New dates for 2021 will be added as soon as government guidelines allow.
Do you offer 1-2-1 training?
Yes. I do 1-2-1 training. If if you are looking for something other than a beginners group workshop then please do get in touch to see if I can help. I enjoy mentoring other photographers looking for training in a specific area, for example, shooting in natural light, how to get the best from children in images, posing, editing, business and marketing advice. We will tailor the day to your exact requirements. The cost is £299 for a half day session.
Please note I do not mentor photographers within a 50-mile radius of Aberdeen.
All mentoring takes place Monday to Friday during term time.
Can I get a refund?
I am unable tor refund or reschedule your purchased ticket within 4 weeks of the workshop date.
